Orbis Publishing Warplane Magazine #104 (1985)

 

Warplane: The world's most informative and lavishly illustrated encyclopedia of modern military aviation.

Published by Orbis Publishing Ltd between 1985 and 1988, in 120 issues.

Each 20-page issue was broken down into three parts.

The first part, 'War Zone' of five pages. Covered either a description of military action in the past, i.e. Vietnam, Falklands War, Russian in Afghanistan, Middle East etc, even lesser known operations in Grenada or South Africa were covered. Or a profile of the operations of an aircraft in service at the time the issues were published. A lot of the aircraft covered are still in service today, performing a similar role.

The second part, 'Warplane Data File' , of eleven pages. Covered a description of an aircraft that was in service at the time. This included a three-page description of the aircraft, a stunning four-page drawing of the aircraft, its specifications, cut-away drawings, details of which units operated the aircraft, and much more. A lot of the aircraft covered are still in service today.

The third and final part, 'Warplane Directory', covered a description of four military aircraft in service at that time in each issue, from Aeritalia to Zlin. With additional aircraft that had come into service since the magazine was first published, in the later issues. Including a lot of aircraft that are still in service today.
