Biggles Of The Royal Flying Corps (1978) By Captain W. E. Johns
 
Biggles of the Royal Flying Corps was published in 1978 by Purnell & Sons and edited by Piers Williams (the pen-name of Jennifer Schofield). The book is a collection of 10 R.F.C. era short stories which had originally been published in Biggles Learns to Fly or The Camels are Coming.
 
Because the stories had all been published elsewhere, some collectors do not consider Royal Flying Corps a separate Biggles book. However the original stories in Learns to Fly and Camels are Coming had become difficult to gain access to in the 1970s. There was the Brockhampton edition of Learns to Fly and the stories in Camels could be read from Biggles of the Special Air Police and Biggles Pioneer Air Fighter, but only in edited form. Biggles of the Royal Flying Corps aimed to present the original text as much as possible and was moreover lavishly illustrated with 26 full page illustrations.
