312th Bomb Group: "The Roarin' 20s" (2000) DVD

USAAF, 5th Air Force
312th Bombardment Group
386th, 387th, 388th, 389th Bomb Squadrons

The 312th flew the Douglas A-20 Havoc, a fast, heavily armed bomber on low-level strafing and bombing missions against the Japanese during World War II.

Join former pilots & gunners at the USAF Museum, and listen to their recollections about flying and fighting in the A-20. Hear veterans recall the group's history from its formation to flying in New Guinea and the Philippines.

Their legacy includes flying the infamous "Black Sunday" mission of April 16, 1944 when the Fifth Air Force suffered the largest operational loss in history of 37 planes lost to weather.

WWII photographs from the 312th's strafing and parafrag bombing capture stunning images of the Pacific air war at treetop height. Also, the 386th BS of the 312th BG earned the distinction of being the only unit to fly the B-32 Dominator in combat, at the end of WWII.
